My Background

After defending my dissertation in 1995 at the University of Montpellier under the supervision of Dean Michel Vivant (“The Commercialization of Public Data: The Public Sector and the Information Market”), I was hired as an associate professor at the University of Avignon, where I remained for ten years.

During those years, I held various positions and oversaw different training programs. For example, I worked toward obtaining accreditation for the bar school entrance exam (precapa) and established the university’s first IEJ program. I created and directed a Master’s 2 program in “Cultural Property Law” and conducted research on this topic. At the same time, I served as director of ERCIM (a CNRS research team specializing in intellectual property law in Montpellier).

In 2006, after passing the competitive examination for a teaching position in private law, I was appointed to the University of Saint-Étienne, where I remained for two years.

I subsequently requested a transfer to Grenoble to serve as co-director of the Master 2 program in Intellectual Property and New Technologies Law and as director of CUERPI, the University Center for Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property, which is now part of the Center for Legal Research.

This decision was motivated by my area of expertise, which is specifically intellectual property law—a subject I teach at Grenoble, Paris-Assas, Sciences Po Paris, and Montpellier, and which is at the heart of my research.
Every year, I provide commentary on the Intellectual Property Code for LexisNexis.

I am the author of several books on intellectual property law (including the Précis Dalloz volume “Droit d’auteur et droits voisins,” co-authored with Michel Vivant) and have written regular columns (see, for example, the column I have co-authored with André Lucas in the journal “Propriétés intellectuelles” for the past 19 years).
